About Us
For 30 years G.F. and Penny Cloud have been making a wide variety of porcelain pottery. They have gathered together some of the most talented ceramic artists in the country, and most importantly, they have given them the place, tools and support to do the work they love and grow and prosper as artists. We make a promise to our clients..and that is to be true to our inspiration and to bring the fruit of our labor to you at a fair price and to never compromise our enviornmental standards, ethical standards or to falsely represent what we do or can do.

Linda Allison has been painting with Penny for over a decade. She keeps the studio running, the kilns firing, the casting happening, and in her spare time she travels, hikes, kayacks and raises Gunnar the flat coat retriever.

G.F. Cloud started the Earthworks in Sacramento in 1971 with 3 partners. It ran until a few years ago. He and Penny opened Clouds in Folsom in 1977. While raku (shown here) is not part of our "commercial" repetoire, it makes a great desert. Next year we hope to return to work after new years with new items and designs.

Mary Cargile was lead potter at the Earthworks with G.F. in the early '70's. She joined us at Clouds in the late 70's and remains the inspiration behind much of our work. She received a masters from C.S.U.S. and most of her education by trial and error and hard work.

What Our Customers Say:
One of the best reasons I shop at Clouds is...
It is one of the best places to find a unique& beautiful gift that will be a showcase in the recipient's home for years to come and a dated heirloom worthy of handing down generation to generation!
At least that is why I buy it for gifts and why I request it for gifts! :-)

For individuals that leave the Folsom area, you take a piece of the town with you. I left Sacramento six years ago. I miss California but every day I look at my Clouds pieces and it brings back fond memories. Every holiday, I bring out my special Cloud pieces and it’s all most like I’m back home. Thank you so much for my life time of memories.

Collecting and enjoying Cloud's pottery becomes a rich tradition that you and your family will enjoy for generations to come. It is truly "art with function", and I look forward to passing down my collection to my loved ones.

Clouds pottery & porcelain is both an artistic and sculptural product as well as it is a functional product. One can collect it and use it! To quote
a famous German Architect, Mies Van Der Roe "its form follows its function." One can own a small collection of perhaps 1-3 pieces or a more lavish collection of perhaps 20-25 pieces & both collectors would be quite content!!! ( I myself fall neatly within the lavish group!) In conclusion, it looks beautiful & one can use it, too!
